My name is Alexandra and I am an aspiring ballet student at Ballet San Jose School right now. My aunt, Shirley Okada introduced me to the Xooma X20 product and the beginning of March.
Around the last week of February, I was in my usual “pointe” class. I was practicing a turn on pointe and my pointe shoe ended up sticking to some tape left on the marley floor. I fell to the left and my right foot on pointe was pulled unnaturally to the right – a twisted recovery and landing. Eventually, my foot was injured and I proceeded to do what any dancer would to prevent swelling and more pain; I iced my foot. The following week, I started drinking the X2O water.
I believe it really helped with my foot; my right foot continued to hurt for the next few weeks. Here and there I would stay off of pointe, sit down and watch, or simply miss a class to rest my foot. What was most interesting, however, I was still able to dance though the injury during my recovery period. Even a few more times, I had landed on my foot incorrect as it pained me here and there through the next weeks. Ballet is so very exhausting and dedication/passion supercede an injury at times. However, during those weeks, I was drinking X2O faithfully every day.
Just last week during my Spring break, I visited my orthopaedic doctor while back at home in Temecula. My doctor proceeded with an x-ray and revealed that I did in fact have a slight fracture in my 2nd metatarsal bone. I was honestly kind of shocked, but I had a slight feeling that I might have fractured it. I was shocked because despite the fracture, I was literally able to dance still through it all. May not be the best thing to do, but I did only take breaks off here and there.
It had been 8 weeks since my injury and my doctor said it should take 6-8 weeks to heal with additional recovery time. He also told me it looked like it was healing quickly and correctly without any other issues around the area of the foot.
I read an article online that discusses how endurance training creates acidity in the blood; endurance is one required of ballet – of any sport really. The article mentioned how blood acidity is not good for fractures and how its important to make blood less acidic through nutrition. VOILA! I realized that the whole time I’ve been injured, I drank consistently X2O and as usual, maintained a good diet. Vitamin D is important in the prevention of injuries. Most ballerinas don’t get enough vitamin D because we spend the majority of our day inside a studio. I love that the X2O contains Vitamin D and other trace minerals.
I am a huge believer in X2O, and can’t wait for my injury to completely heal. X2O not only has helped in the recovery of my foot injury, but has also helped my hip flexors. I had a hip stress injury a few years ago and now since then depending on weather or how much dancing I have done – the tendons and ligaments feel like they get caught on each other making it more difficult to raise my leg higher than 90 degrees. I now feel like the X2O hydrates my body so well, that, I don’t feel my hip flexors getting caught anymore.
Dancing feels amazing with X2O; I have to have it every day now!!!
